{"id":11559,"date":"2021-11-22T16:18:41","date_gmt":"2021-11-22T14:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ldn.org.ua\/?post_type=event&#038;p=11559"},"modified":"2021-11-22T16:20:14","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T14:20:14","slug":"opportunities-for-annual-monitoring-of-the-ldn-member-organizations-activities","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/ldn.org.ua\/en\/event\/opportunities-for-annual-monitoring-of-the-ldn-member-organizations-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Opportunities for annual monitoring of the LDN member organizations&#8217; activities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Author:\nHalyna Kolesnyk, Communications Manager of the Legal Development Network.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By the\nend of the year, the <\/strong><strong>Legal Development Network member\norganizations determine the level of<\/strong><strong> their organizational development. <\/strong><strong>This audit of organizational capacity analyzes nine\n<\/strong><strong>areas, including 97\nindicators. <\/strong><strong>While confirming\ncompliance with the <\/strong><strong>Network&#8217;s standards\nand a<\/strong><strong>n <\/strong><strong>actual level of organizational development, <\/strong><strong>it is also a good\nopportunity for each organization to verify its ability to manage resources or\nreceive support for further development.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Anastasi<\/strong><strong>ia Ploshchynska,<\/strong> executive\ndirector of &#8220;Podilska\nPravova Liha&#8221; (Podillia Legal\nLeague) NGO, talks about one such example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;We\nwere joining the Legal Development Network in 2015. We are monitored annually.\nWe have really needed its results recently. We prepared a project proposal, and\nit turned out that there is also a need to confirm the level of our\norganizational development. This was not a problem, as we have monitoring\nresults from the Network.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This is\na tremendous advantage for member organizations, as it is also proof of\norganizational capacity when working with donors. I know that other\norganizations are specifically looking for opportunities to evaluate their\nactivities, such as grants for organizational development. Under the terms of some\ngrant proposals, it even met with the provision of additional funding for about\n$ 1,000 to pay for the services of an expert. And we already have all this.\n&#8220;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why can the monitoring results be trusted?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Legal Development Network has been conducting organizational capacity assessments since 2016. Since then, the methodology has undergone significant changes &#8211; the self-assessment questionnaire has been replaced by an organizational capacity assessment tool, and independent experts have been involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/Yhz-7ukN0JJOB-wC5mIFUsMzifRfsCzNX1vMVcQYVHdhjBW0BINu6l4-CO5ovslErDqqtvg1JUPMx7CEi1Z7IdFLq_FkOvgTFisf9vhQQR8ASWAv-jspNloNKEeZioztK7jI8n6D\" alt=\"\" width=\"848\" height=\"571\"\/><figcaption> <em>Photo:<strong> Iryna Chaika<\/strong>, Organizational Development Manager of the Legal Development Network. Monitoring research helps in this. Every year we improve the monitoring procedure, making it more effective. For instance, we refused in-person site visits of the monitoring groups, replacing them at an online meeting. This is a forced adaptation to the pandemic realities, which, however, in practice proved to be a viable and economical alternative for face-to-face visits. It considers the main aspects to form an idea of \u200b\u200bthe current activities of organizations &#8211; their resources, management structure, communication efficiency, expertise, ability to fulfill commitments, etc. It is felt that the long-term monitoring has allowed to identify the most critical indicators for qualitative assessment of the development of organizations and provide appropriate recommendations.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In\naddition, the involvement of independent expertise is a significant advantage<\/em><em>. It provides a more objective assessment of the\nlevel of organizational development<\/em><em>. Some of them have had such experience before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kateryna\nMaltseva,<\/strong> head of the NGO &#8220;Strategies and\nTechnologies for Effective Partnership&#8221; (STEP) from Zaporizhia, says that\nin 2019 GIZ provided support to the organization to assess its organizational\ncapacity. STEP then received recommendations from the experts involved and\ndeveloped internal policies and strategies:<em>\n&#8220;It has helped us a lot in fundraising in the future. We ourselves review\nthe <\/em><em>strategy every year, what\nhas been achieved, what still needs to be worked on, and the assessment of the\norganizational potential of the Legal Development Network is an additional\nevaluation of what can be further improved.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For reference: the level of organizational\ncapacity of the member organizations of the Legal Development Network is being\nmonitored for the sixth time since 2016. External independent experts Olga\nLopushanska, Anna Uvarva, Yaroslav Malyk, and Olena Orach were involved in the monitoring procedure in\n2021.
