Within a week, the Legal Development Network will present the Human Rights Friendly Community Program at the World Justice Forum 2022, which will take place from May 30 to June 3 in The Hague, the Netherlands.
The World Justice Forum is a major international event in the field of the rule of law. During this weekly meeting, world and community leaders from different sectors and interests share ideas, explore strategies and develop solutions to promote justice, opportunities and peace through the rule of law.
The World Justice Challenge is a global competition to identify, recognize and promote best practices and effective projects and policies that promote the rule of law in three categories: access to justice, anti-corruption and open government, equal rights and non-discrimination.
Especially for the Forum, we have created a short video that answers the most common questions, including:
- What can the Program do for you?
- What does it give to its participants, the community, and
- How does it help facilitate access to justice?
Its heroes – local council representative Nadiya, activist Taras, doctor Iryna, entrepreneur Petro, educator Maria, go all the way to build an ecosystem of access to justice in their community – from studying within the Program, researching legal issues and needs to implementing and supporting strategic decisions.

Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine has made further implementation of the Program impossible. However, skills in identifying community needs, finding resources and working together have helped initiative groups come together and meet challenges that need to be addressed in a timely and prompt manner.
Most of the Human Rights Friendly Community Program participants are team-mates in the Legal Development Network’s #StandWithUkraine campaign, which combines efforts of the coalition of civil society organizations Solidarity and Justice to provide humanitarian and legal assistance.
The Program is open to new partnerships that could contribute to its further development and expansion to new communities both in Ukraine and globally.
This year’s World Justice Forum will also be available online. Registration is still open. The organizers provide translation into Russian, French, Spanish and Arabic.
The Human Rights Friendly Community Program has been implemented by the Ukrainian Access to Justice School of Practice since 2019 on the basis of the #PRAVOKATOR network of legal clubs with the support of the Legal Aid Coordination Center , the International Renaissance Foundation, the Ukrainian Legal Aid Foundation, partner organizations and institutions and is administered by the Legal Development Network.
